Time Well Spent During Vacation

Holidays are usually very busy for schoolchildren. For instance, Moses wakes up at about five o’clock in the morning. After tiding his bed, he spends about twenty minutes eating breakfast. He usually plans his day well in advance. Moses knows he has to feed the rabbits and sprinkle water on the vegetable seedbed.

Getting Used to The Chores

Moses enjoys doing morning chores as it is a way of exercising. By ten o’clock, he goes back to his study room and settles down to do his school work. He usually has a timetable that guides him on what to read at what time. However, before he settles down to study, Moses has resolved to go through these inspiring tips every morning It is possible to achieve all of your dreams if you are courageous enough to pursue them.

Nurturing Positive Attitude

Do not run away from your fears but keep on chasing your dreams persistently. When you give the best that you have to the world, you will, in return get the best. Learning is beautiful and I love it as opposed to studying. Success comes as a result of positive will and not because you lack knowledge or strength.

 Physical Transformation Evidence

Faces of people with good thoughts always shine like sunbeams. Do not give up too soon on something you have started, the beginning is usually the hardest part. You are infinitely better if you try to do something and fail than someone who succeeded by doing nothing. Try at all times to make your friend the best person he or she can be. Don’t expect them to be perfect though.

 Dare to Dream Big

Big dreams are more powerful than knowing all the facts. Never give up on what you really desire. Behind every successful individual is a painful story; each of which has a successful ending. If you think of changing the world, begin by changing one person at a time-starting with yourself.

Although we all know that life is composed of little things, everyone is trying to achieve something big. Being the first does not always mean you are the winner. To be a winner means you are doing something better than you ever did before.

 Enduring Failures Leads to Success

A good teacher will always point you to a specific direction but will not tell you what you will see. Do not bother about the things you have to loose and begin to focus on all the gains you stand to get. The more you get hurt, the braver you become. So, you can only learn by making mistakes along the way. And, you can only become successful by enduring failures. All worthwhile successes are based on firm foundation of a true character

Never Stop Trying

Remember that you are always smarter than you ever thought, stronger and braver than you seem. Although you might love to read about easy things because they are entertaining; the danger is that you might not grow from it. Get up! Crawl, walk and run!

According to his timetable, Moses had planned to study two subjects in the morning, that is, from eight o’clock to noon. He has allocated thirty minutes for his lunch break and another thirty for a quick afternoon nap. Thereafter, he revises two subjects. He does this consistently every day. Between four and six o’clock, Moses has time to play his favorite game with his friends. (Moses is a typical product of Milami Primary School).

What you Speak and Do Defines Who You Are: Lesson IV

Recently, I did watch a presentation clip on my friend’s YouTube channel that taught me several lessons. The many issues covered indirectly by the presentation explained different things in perspective; life, the bible, physics, etc. I also learned two more lessons, that is- why some people stagnate in life yet they are so brilliant and why at times people of great promise lead lives which are not at all inspiring.

For those in the know on matters of physics, the clip I watched might have been illustrating the obvious. However, to a person like me who is laying in that field, it was indeed a big deal. The following illustrates what the video showed:

The lessons learned

The presentation video clip showed a pickup truck travelling at 50 miles per hour. The pickup was loaded with cannon. Now from the cannon, a cannonball was fired in the opposite direction. The speed of the cannonball was equal to the speed of the pickup truck (50 miles per hour). What happened next? The cannonball just stagnated and dropped to the ground due to balancing forces.

To me, that was really huge and I tried comparing it with an article I read in some publication a decade ago which gave a similar analogy but from a different perspective. Now, what would be your response if your friend asks you whether your health is poor, fair, good, or excellent?

Believe it or not, your answer would be a sure predictor as to whether you will survive or die within the coming four years-according to credible research findings. Fact Findings In a recent study of about 3,000 women and men with disabilities, it was found that those who considered their health to be “poor” were five times more likely to die in the coming four years as opposed to those who rated their health as “excellent”.

This fact held true for people who considered their health to be excellent even though they were sick. The converse was also true for those who said they were poor health-wise yet were not suffering or disadvantaged by any medical condition. A survey of five other research findings involving about 23,000 people, many of whom were people with various kinds of disabilities, arrived at similar conclusions.

To say that loose lips sink ships is but an understatement. In the first book of the Bible (Genesis), the law of the spoken Word is the very first law of creation. Remember? “Let there be” and that is law number one that governs life. Simply put; you are a product of your own thoughts. It is not surprising to state that many human beings, irrespective of their physical challenges, talk themselves into very bad situations and then turn to others to pray for them when the very things they talked themselves into turn into reality.

 Negativity Breeds Negativity

How can you pray yourself out of a scenario that you effectively talked yourself into? The abundance of evidence seems to suggest that the words we utter are more powerful than we ascribe to them. You must-literally-must watch your words. Nice words from the basic building blocks of good living.

Many a time, we speak wrong things in our own lives; more so, to our children. Once you condemn your kids as being good for nothing, how do you then expect solutions when they begin to abide by your words? We do believe, hence we speak. Essentially, whatever we speak unveils that which we believe, either consciously or otherwise. That said, you thus, need to send your own words ahead of you. It is through your very own words that you can indeed frame your world.

If at all you must speak, then speak good things about your own being. Get lessons from the law of creation and lead the lifestyle you so deserve. The issue with the law of creation was not in describing the darkness that prevailed on Earth, but it was to speak light that was desired. Try as much as you can to shun spending time with talented negative speakers because their negativity might translate into your reality.

There is no way, for real that you can pronounce vitriol over your employer, company, guide, and helper and expect them to bless you. How can you speak badly about your native country and expect to prosper in it? Speaking positively is not the same as saying we deny the presence of things that cannot simply work. What it means is that you speak from dimensions that are above board. Despite the laws of gravity, airplanes are able to fly because of engaging higher laws of thrust and lift.

Similarly, you can activate advanced laws despite the prevailing conditions-simply by speaking rightly. I am not in a position to explain this exhaustively; just in the same manner, it is not easy to explain why a black cow that eats green grass produces white milk! However, there is one thing that I am certain about: whenever we speak the right words regarding our own lives or lifestyles, somehow, things begin to align themselves in the right way. For instance, you will somehow meet the right person or people, find the right career to study, a nice book to read, or find you reading this article right now! The truth: Either way you cannot be wrong.

 Conclusion

You are right if you say, you can. You are also right if you say, you can’t. Whatever you say manifests itself in your world. Once again remember that your words form the building blocks with which you determine the course of your future. You live within the confines set by your own words. We try to instil these tenets in our children at Miami Primary School so that when they grow up, they shall not depart from the truth.

The Secret of Golden Trophy Winners

We finally arrived back at school at 3 o’clock from the educational tour for K-5 pupils. Although we had to walk through a thick forest, we were glad that we made it to school safe and sound.

We were surprised when we found the whole school, including teachers assembled. But they were all smiling and seemed excited. They were clapping at the head teacher who was speaking while standing in front of them. My heart leaped in joy as soon as I heard what he was talking about.

We had been selected to be one of the few schools to perform at the national music festival. The head teacher was trying to explain about the festival but everybody was too excited to pay attention. He caught my attention when he mentioned that the guest of honor would be the cabinet secretary in charge of education. I was overwhelmed with excitement.

“We need to immediately begin serious practice. The festival is only two weeks away. You may now go to class and start preparing,” the head teacher concluded his speech.

This school term could not get any better for me. After visiting my favorite Samburu Park, now I have a chance to perform at a national festival. Moreover, a price of $10,000 will be awarded to the winner in addition to a trophy. “Thank you God for this amazing day. I feel so blessed,” I whispered a prayer to the almighty.

The week that followed was bustling with activity. We had to work all day to make sure that our performances were perfect. Our attires were the traditional sisal skirts. All the pupils were busy running up and down and making sure that everything was perfect for the festival.

“We have to continue working hard. The national drama festival is a big event and we have to perfect our performances” our music teacher said.

And the D-day finally arrived. We all rushed to the bus while carrying our costumes. The venue of the festival was 10 miles away so we enjoyed the adventure along the way. I mostly loved the curvy landscapes.

On arrival, we saw many people. They had all come to watch the festival. We became even more excited. We were led into a room where we put on our costumes.

Then when it was our turn to perform we went behind the stage and the Master of ceremony announced, “Now, let us all welcome pupils from Brook Shine primary school” and the crowd began clapping to welcome us.

And when the curtains opened to reveal us, I became even more excited and as usual, I whispered a prayer, “Please help us God to perform our best” as we made our way to the podium with big smiles on our faces.

Our teacher gave us thumbs up as we began singing. We danced better than we ever had and sang in perfect harmony. “Sing your hearts out,” the music teacher had told us. The crowd went wild with excitement when we matched out off the stage.

I could tell that our teacher was pleased with us by the big smile on his face. We all changed back to our uniforms and sat at the auditorium waiting for the results.

The master of ceremony then picked up the microphone. My heart was beating fast. All the other pupils also looked tensed.

“And the school that is the first place in this competition is…” she paused for a few minutes. Tension was at its peak.

“The school is…” she held her breath, “Brook Shine Primary School! Congratulations on your win”

Once again I whispered a prayer, “thank you, Lord! We would not have won without you”

Our teacher has then presented the trophy by the minister of education. All the pupils were jumping in joy. However, I was feeling humbled for I knew it was prayers that made us win.

Tips We Learned on an Afternoon Survey Trip

It was in the afternoon and the children had just returned to class after the lunch break. The social studies teacher came to class carrying a lot of papers and a chart which she suspended on the board.

“Today we are having an outdoor lesson,” she said. “I have talked to the people who work at Ridgeway shopping Centre and they will be glad to talk to you about what they do there,” this made the children very excited. Some of them even started discussing what they wanted to buy from the shopping Centre.

The teacher Mrs. Robert divided the children into three groups. Then she started giving them instructions, “each group is required to go to at least one place and talk to the people who work there. You will also have to complete the map. I have assigned Group 1 to go to the Education office. Group 2 will go to the Skateboard equipment store and Group 3 to the Jewelry store. I will also hand you a questionnaire that you need to have completely filled in by the end of the exercise.” She then handed out the questionnaire and map to the children. “Does anyone have a question regarding this exercise?” she inquired.

Lisa raised her hand and when the teacher picked her up, she asked, “Which member of the group should fill in the questionnaire and the maps?”

“I expect you to divide the responsibilities among each other. Afterwards you should all write your own notes,” Mrs. Robert answered.

So all the children began the journey towards the shopping center. It was a hot afternoon so the children had to take off their sweaters. The Shopping Centre was not too far away, just about a mile. Group A went in their own direction. They went down the streets past a big hotel to a tall building. A big poster was put up to indicate the direction to the Education office.

Damian was on the front so he knocked on the door once we got there and we heard a lady reply from the inside, “you may come in!” all the pupils stared at each other for a minute before Damian opened the door.

Inside was a lady sited in a nicely organized office. Next to her was a man seated in a smaller table. The lady looked at us and said with a smile on her face, “You lovely children must be from ridgeway primary school. Good afternoon!”

“Good afternoon!” we all replied while Damian continued, “indeed we are Grade 5 pupils of Ridgeway primary school. Our teacher organized this visit so that we can find out about the activities carried out in this shopping center.” The lady who told us to address her as Miss Elizabeth gave us seats and Damian removed the questionnaire paper from his bag.

“Miss Elizabeth, do you mind explaining to us about your work in the education department?”

“Well, I am an Education officer so I visit schools from time to time and see how they are doing.”

“I also ensure that all schools have an adequate number of teachers.”

“Do you perform all these duties on your own?” Damian inquired.

“No, the gentleman on my right types and prints all my letters,” Miss Elizabeth replied, “He also attends to any visitors while I’m away.”

“If you take a close look at the map on the wall, this zone has a total of 58 schools.” All the children turned to look at it. At the bottom of the map, it was indicated that there is a total number of thirty thousand, two hundred and ten pupils and one thousand, three hundred and four pupils in the zone.

Damian turned to the last page of the questionnaire leaflet and asked, Why did you choose to locate your office at this shopping Centre?”

Miss Elizabeth replied, “this shopping center is located in the middle of this zone which makes it convenient for me to visit all the schools or for other teachers to visit me.”

All the Group A members thanked the Education Officer before leaving. They continued walking around in the shopping Centre while filling in the names of the shops on their maps.”

Members of Group B visited a different place in the shopping Centre. They walked past the church to a building that sells Skate boat equipment.  The shop owner welcomed them.

The children asked a couple of questions and gathered a lot of information about the store. They learned that the shop sells sports shoes, Tennis balls, and many different types of attire. The shop was opened there due to the demand of Skateboard equipment in the area.

The children also learned where the supplies of the store came from. They were brought from warehouses in the city and were supplied using large trucks. The children were lucky enough to witness one of the trucks delivering balls and clothes. They went outside and watched as the owner counted and recorded the equipment before carrying them to his shop.

Group C members went down the main street of the shopping center. They walked passed a furniture shop to the jewelry store. They were welcomed by the owner who took them to the back of the shop and gave them seats. The children then started asking questions.

“When did you start this business?”

“Very long time ago. It must be around 20 years.”

“Is this business satisfactory or have you thought of trying another one?”

“No. I love this business and it gives me adequate money to support my family and pay for my children’s school fees.”

“Do you face any challenges while running this business?”

“Of course yes. The main challenge I face is competition from shops that sell products similar to mine so we share customers.”

The children also thanked the store owner and continued touring the shopping center while filling in the map. By 3.30 pm all the children assembled in the seventh-day church where most of them attended bible lessons. They made their way back home while thanking their teacher for the amazing afternoon they had.
